One health, education, and preventative medicine is important to me.
As a mixed practice, veterinary practitioner, licensed in early 2024, I am open to examining all animal species.
Interests
Genetic parasitology and toxicology.
Livestock veterinary medicine, business, and biosecurity.
Scientific writing and editing.
Education
I am expected to obtain my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at Murdoch University in early 2024.
I hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Biology (BSc) from Murdoch University.
I graduated from high school in 2017 with a GPA of 4.193 and honours.
Experience & Accomplishments
Owned, looked after, safely examined, restrained, provided veterinary treatments to, or scrubbed into surgery with:
- Avians: many.
- Reptiles: snakes (many, non-venomous), lizards (i.e. bearded dragons, chameleons, geckos, iguanas, skinks), chelonians (many).
- Amphibians: frogs.
- Mammals: dogs, cats, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, chinchillas, ferrets, horses, cows, goats, sheep, pigs, llamas, alpacas, camels, sea lions, seals.
Designed or participated in selective breeding programs for rabbits (meat), goats (dairy), and dogs (Doberman).
Currently sub-contracting as a scientific editing consultant for Colere, a strategic food, fibre, and biotech scientific consultancy. Edited a technical review of internal parasites in goats for Meat and Livestock Australia and the Goat Industry Council of Australia.
Designed and researched a Master’s (DVM) project titled “Controlling Haemonchus contortus in Australian Goats” at Murdoch University in Perth Australia over 2022-2023.
Founded and grew a dog training consultancy, Caine Mediation - Family Coaching in California in 2020.
Treated, handled, triaged, and discharged small animal and exotic emergency patients under a licensed veterinarian overnight for almost a year at Berkeley Dog and Cat Hospital in Berkeley, California in 2020.
Coordinated client activities and organised paper and electronic files while working as a Client Care
Representative at Perth Vet Emergency in Perth, Western Australia in 2019.
Founded and grew Walk Fourward, a dog walking, training, and pet sitting business in 2018, in Perth, Western Australia.
Assisted emergency caesarean sections, treated in-patients, and triaged by phone at Applecross Veterinary Hospital in Perth, Western Australia from 2017 to 2018.
Restrained seals and sea lions for tube feedings, and trained them how to catch fish at The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, California from 2015 to 2017
Raised, bred, and showed oberhasli dairy goats as a member of Montclair 4-H in Oakland, California from 2011 to 2016.
Practised the fundamentals of dog training and puppy socialisation while working for Bravo Pup! in the Bay Area, California from 2016 to 2017.
Consistently maintained husbandry and hygiene as a kennel assistant at Park Centre Animal Hospital in Alameda, California from 2014 to 2016.
Learned the basic principles of force-free dog training and handling while assisting the founder of Creature Comforts in Alameda, California from 2011 to 2013.
